Not sure if your lunch fits PCOS? Take a photo. PCOS Scan looks at every food on the plate and tells you how it fits, in a few seconds.

How it works

  1. Tap Scan and take a photo of your plate, or pick one from your library.
  2. Each food gets a small label right on the photo, in green, yellow or red.
  3. Below the photo you get an overall score, a short reason for each food, an estimated blood-sugar curve and one or two swaps.

What the colors mean

  • Green: fits PCOS well. Often protein, vegetables, fiber or healthy fats.
  • Yellow: okay in moderation, or better with some protein or fiber next to it.
  • Red: likely to spike your blood sugar, like white bread, fries or a sugary drink.

You don’t need a perfect plate. Most good meals have a bit of yellow, and that’s fine.

Why blood sugar matters with PCOS

Many people with PCOS have insulin resistance. That means the body needs more insulin to bring blood sugar back down after a meal. The 2023 international PCOS guideline puts healthy eating and activity first for everyone with PCOS, and it doesn’t name one diet as the best.

So the app doesn’t give you a strict diet. It shows you what’s on your plate, and what a slightly smarter version would look like.

Swaps, not rules

Every result suggests one or two swaps, like cauliflower rice instead of white rice. Pick one and the curve updates, with the original shown as a dashed line, so you can see the difference.

It all goes in your log

Each scan is saved to your daily log on your phone and ticks “Scan a meal” on your weekly plan. Eating out? Use the menu scan. Packaged food? Scan the barcode.

You can scan up to 30 times a day.

Questions

Does the meal scan count calories?+

Each result has an estimated nutrition table for the whole meal, with calories, protein, carbs, fat and fiber. They're estimates from the photo, so treat them as a guide.

How accurate is it?+

It's a good guide, not a lab test. The app can't see oil, sauces or exact portions, and every body responds a little differently. That's why every score and curve is labeled an estimate.

Are my photos stored?+

No. Photos are sent to be analyzed and are not stored on our servers. Your scans are saved on your phone.
